Telling People About Your Scalp Micropigmentation

It’s a personal choice, really. I mean, it’s not like I had a major surgery or anything – I just got a little cosmetic work done on my scalp. It’s undetectable, so why would anyone need to know?

But then again, it’s also kind of a big deal. Getting that hairline back which frames your face and as a result, you look younger and might get a big boost in confidence. So do I tell people? Or do I keep it under wraps and let them just think that I made the bold choice of shaving my head rather than having a discussion about pigments on my scalp?

I guess it just comes down to what feels more comfortable for you. And right now, choosing not to tell people (co-workers, acquintances, and friends) seems more comfortable. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now, it works for me. But hey, if you’re someone I know and you’re reading this and didn’t know… yeah, I had SMP this whole time and you had no idea. Do you feel bamboozled? Probably not. 😉

Is Scalp Micropigmentation detectable?

Unwanted attention

Having a tattoo on my scalp is something I’d rather not draw attention to. It’s not necessarily something I’m ashamed of, but more so that it’s a cosmetic procedure that was meant to remove a distraction so that I can focus my attention on more important aspects of life such as personal/interpersonal development, furthering my career goals, and engaging in hobbies that brings fulfillment. By keeping this tattoo undetectable, I can ensure that conversations with friends and colleagues are focused on more meaningful topics. Whether it’s discussing ideas that will help the world a better place, or simply sharing a laugh together, I value the connections I have with others over anything else. And that’s why I’m so grateful for my hair tattoo, it removes a distraction so that I can move onto other things, more important things.

Scalp Micropigmentation is relatively new

Scalp Micropigmentation is a relatively new form of hair restoration and has been gaining in popularity over the past few years. Despite its growing popularity, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the procedure as well as how people will react to it. It’s understandable to be concerned about how well others may accept a cosmetic change, especially since hair loss can be a sensitive issue for many people. I reserve these kinds of conversation to people that are very close to me, no one needs to know about my “minor” cosmetic decision. However… if they find out, they find out.

I want it to be undetectable

The whole point of getting scalp micropigmentation is to restore my hairline and make it look like I never had a problem in the first place. I don’t want people to know that I had to go through this procedure – it’s my personal business. As long as it’s a well-kept secret, I don’t see why anyone would care about how I look.

If you’ve been considering getting scalp micropigmentation for quite some time now and researching on what this treatment can do (and cannot) for you. You’ll be surprised at how many people are reluctant to share their experience because they just simply don’t want people to know they had a hair loss problem to begin with.

Best way to keep your SMP undetectable

The best way to keep your scalp micropigmentation undetectable is to maintain regular upkeep of your hair. This includes regularly shaving your head with a foil shaver or 0 guard every 2-4 days, moisturizing daily with a quality product to ensure the vibrancy and longevity of the pigments, and using sunscreen when you’re out in the sun (with an SPF of at least 50). Additionally, it’s important to be mindful of your surroundings and how certain lighting conditions may affect the appearance of your SMP, my tip is to use a mattifying moisturier to dull the shine. Overall, if you take good care of your scalp… your hair tattoo will fade less, last longer, and less trips are needed for top-off sessions.

Best Clippers Recommendation For Scalp Micropigmentation

Remove a distraction and get on with life

When I first started experiencing hair loss, I felt like my whole world was crashing down. I couldn’t stop obsessing over how my hair look like in public, sometimes I felt embarrassed in social settings so many times I just opt to stayed home instead of going out. It was a distraction from all of the other important things in my life such as cultivating better relationships, doing deep inner work, and taking on new hobbies.

But after learning about scalp micropigmentation as an option for restoring my hairline and having it look like I’ve never had a problem in the first place, I realized that this treatment was just what I needed in order to continue on with life in a more productive manner. After many years of dealing with hair loss, I got tired of the daily routine of trying to save my hair (popping pills, using topicals, etc). When I finally received the scalp micropigmentation treatment, my life completely changed because I no longer had to worry about how I look like anymore. It really was and is a breath of fresh air. Your mileage may vary because it won’t magically fix your entire life.

And while getting scalp micropigmentation didn’t solve all of my problems, it has allowed me to focus on other areas of my life – such as improving myself and being more present in the moment.

So if you are struggling with hair loss and looking for a way to remove this distraction from your life so that you can focus on what really matters, I highly recommend that you do more research and consider this treatment. It may not be right for everyone, but it’s a great choice for many who are serious about moving forward with their lives.

Conclusion

It’s ultimately up to you whether or not to tell people about your scalp micropigmentation. It all depends on how comfortable you feel with the decision. If you’re worried that others will judge you, then don’t – many people are reluctant to share their experience because they just simply don’t want people to know they had a hair loss problem to begin with. But if don’t mind and willing to be open & honest about your experience, then go for it!

Elegant SMP is the place to get your scalp micropigmentation if you are interested in quality technique. Not all SMP is the same and your practitioner's training really does matter. For me, understanding how my artist could achieve an authentic looking hairline was very important, and very few SMP artists have the training to achieve that. Tommy at Elegant SMP is a true professional who understands how to get a natural looking result that is difficult to replicate - which is a true testament to his training. My SMP results exceeded my expectations and I would recommend Elegant SMP to anyone who is interested in getting the highest quality work the first time, or repairing SMP work that missed the mark.
